My
name is Claytone Kakompe; I was born in 1985, 20th April. I am the
second born in our family of nine. We have six boys and three girls. Both my
parents are alive and living in Lusaka.
I started school in
1993 at St.Pauls’ Primary School in Lusaka. I qualified to grade in 2002. I
was selected to go to Chitanda Secondary School.
In the year 2005, I sat
for my grade 12examination. After school my cousin Justine Sememba who just
finished his training at Mechanics for Africa told me about the college. In 2006
I did apply and was not picked and I never lost the patience to try the
following year. In 2007 I did obtain the application form and submitted. I was
called for interviews and this time I was selected after making the second
attempt.
I am currently staying
with my Auntie in Chifubu. I congregate at Bethel Church in Nkwazi and I’m
just a member, though in Lusaka I was a choir Chairperson.
My hobbies are playing football, listening to gospel music and playing pool table. I have high ambitions of wanting to be an Engineer as the foundation has been laid me at this college. So far I’m enjoying my lessons as a first year student at mechanics for Africa.
My
name is Francis Filongwe and I was born in Lusaka at University Teaching
Hospital in 1980. I come from a family of seven, where four are boys and three
are girls. Both my parents are still alive and are all Christians. I was raised
in a Christian way of life; I did my primary school Makoma Primary School and
went to Roan Antelope for my secondary education. I am married with a
one-year-old boy.
A friend of mine told
about the Mechanics for Africa at Church. I became interested in the college and
so applied. We were called for interviews and I was very happy to be selected
from the many who came.
I am now here at
Mechanics for Africa doing my first year in automotive engineering course, which
include life skills course. My stay here has been wonderful and interesting
experience in my life. The college has standards of high learning, which makes
it favourable for learning things easily.
I would like to become a better citizen of Zambia by becoming a good mechanic and looking forward to opening up my workshop in the future.
My
name is Fred Wishikoti and I was born in 1986 in Ndola Zambia. I am male citizen
and the last born in the family five. The family I come from consists of three
brothers and two sisters, both my parents are alive.
At the age of six, I
started primary school at Kalewa Middle Basic School located in Kalewa Barracks
Military camp here in Ndola. The next seven years was spent at Kalewa Middle
Basic School. I then proceeded to Chifubu high School were I completed my grade
12 in the year 2005. I worked for a while to raise money for college fees at a
local Bakery here in Ndola.
How I came to know
about MFAZ was a great incident of life. I had a friend at church who was
student at this college. The way he conducted himself at church and at home
inspired me very much. Looking back at my life experiencing, I had developed
interest in mechanics as child. I
used to do a lot of small repairs at home and later helped in the school
laboratory. In grade 12 I was a prefect and JETS president, a club that deals
with science subjects of engineering. This spiritual brother encouraged coming
to MFAZ.
I was privileged to be accepted after undertaking oral and written interviews. I am currently doing first year and enjoying the educational standard the college is offering. These include spiritual Guidance, especially the bible studies we have every Mondays. I belong to the Evangelical church in Zambia.
My
name is Friday Sinyangwe; I was born on 15th January 1983 in Ndola
Central Hospital. I am the first born in the family of four. We are three boys
and a girl.
I
belong to Roman Catholic Church; I’m an active Christian and contribute in
running church affairs. I belong to Junior Franciscan Family and also I am a
chairperson Vocation Encounter group. In this group we sensitise on how to live
a better life and respond positively to their vocation.
I
went to Ndambo Basic School, where I did my primary level of education from 1992
to 1998. I did my junior level at Chilengwa Basic School from 1999 to 2000 and
finally I was at Lubuto High where I did my senior level from 2001 to 2003. A
year later I joined my Auntie who had a Workshop dealing in repairing old car
parts, and they trained me as a machinist. After two years I decided to stop due
to family matters.
My friend informed me about this college and a got a form. I did attend the interviews and I wasn’t selected but I was put on standby in case one did not report. I thank God that I was later informed to report to college and offered a place.
My
name is Grace Linda Kafunda. I am 24 years old; I live in Ndola in Twapia
Township. Both my parents are alive and have settled at a farm in Muchinka area
near Fatima Girls High School. I’m the 6th born in the family; I
have three brothers and five sisters. I stay with my elder sister. I am a born
again Christian and fellowship with Bethel City Church.
I started school in
1990 at Kanini Basic School in 1993 and was transferred to Yengwe Primary
that’s where I wrote my grade seven exams. I was selected to grade eight at
Masala High School in 1997 for my junior leaving school examination. Io got
transferred again to Chifubu High School in the year 2000. In December 2001,I
completed my secondary education.
In the year 2003, I
went to Mufulira College of Education that is where I did my course in Basic
Education. I completed in December 2004. Having stayed for three years without
being in a formal employment, I decided to apply at this College in 2007. I am
now enrolled in the first year. I head about Mechanics for Africa from Manix
Chipimpi a second year student.
My hobbies are reading Christian Literature, cooking, visiting and making friends.
Now I layer chicken on
a small scale to help the family and me. I head of Mechanics for Africa from my
brother-Law. Then I thought this was something for me.
My hobbies being that of repairing things like bicycles and anything
small that was mechanical. As I have no skill, I have seen how life can be
difficulty. I applied and was selected by God’s grace form the possible 100
plus applicants.
I am now in the first year, hoping to become one of useful person in the society and the community I live in.
My
name is John Mulongoti; I was born in 1985 on 16th May. I am the
third born in the family of eight; there are three boys and five girls in our
family.
I started my grade one
at Kanini Basic School and was there until grade five. I got a transfer to
Perseverance Basic School were I wrote my grade seven exams.
I went to Mahati
Maghand Boarding School for my junior secondary school. After my grade nine
result came out I did not do well although I got a certificate. I missed most of
my grade nine lessons, as I did not have finances for fees. I went to Chifubu
High School for my senior grade and was privileged to be elected a Chairperson
for Scripture Union and Senior Prefect for the School.
I was planning to go to
Bible College after completing school, but Mr. Sikaundi who is a staff at the
college told my father about Mechanics for Africa.
I applied and was selected form the many applicants who turned up for the interviews. My hobbies are making friends, listening to gospel music and visitations.
My
name is John Ngoma aged 30 and not married. We are nine in our family of four
boys and five girls and I am the fourth in the family. I fellowship with Bethel
City Church. I completed grade twelve in 2000 at Lubuto High School. After
finishing school, I worked for Colywn Group of Companies for three years as a
supervisor and Cashier.
Thereafter, I did a
driver’s training course at Zambian School of Driving in the year 2006. I was
awarded a certificate. Then I worked as a Taxi Driver for a short period. I
thought I needed to acquire a main skill motor vehicle because of the many
problems the vehicle developed. I knew about the college from my Dad who worked
at the college, Mr Lloyd Ngoma and a friend who was a student here.
I thank God that I was among those who where picked, and currently doing first year at Mechanics for Africa Zambia.
My
name is John Sinyengo; I was born on the 9th of February 1985 at
Ndola central hospital. I come from a family of nine and am the 7th
born. There are five boys and four girls. It’s a small but happy family. I
grew up with both parents on the farm. They are self employed and run a dairy
farm.
I started school at the
age of seven in 1992 at Kanini Primary School. Years later I wrote my first
examination and made it to junior grade.
I qualified to senior or high school at Kansenshi High School. During
high school I was actively involved in sport, I took part in soccer, basketball
as well as rugby. I successfully spent my two years in senior high school till I
sat for my final examination, I passed with good results. I joined my parents in
running the farm. I was given responsibility of delivering farm produce in the
mornings and supervisory in the afternoon. This went on from 2004 till last year
2007.
Last year someone by
the name of Bodwin Besa talked to me about Mechanics for Africa Zambia and asked
me if I had interest in mechanics? I thought twice and decided to get back to
books.
I was asked to accompany him to the college and obtain the application form. I attended the interviews was among those who were selected. Right now am in the first year at the college. At the moment I have not decided which church to go to after I joined my sister in town.
My
name is Jehoshaphat A. Ndau; I was born in 1990 on 20th January, in
Kalulushi District in Copperbelt. I am the first born in my family of two, a boy
and girl.
I did my primary
education in several different schools, which are Lusaka Boys from grade 1 to 3,
Chishawasha Boarding School in Zimbabwe from grade 4 to 6, then went on to my
secondary education at Amano Christian School.
On my family side, both
my parents are dead and my sister and I are the only one left. But my uncle in
Lusaka looks us after. And also including some family members like, Mr & Mrs
Grove and Mr. & Mrs Samwata where I sometimes or usually stay in Chingola.
I am a boy was brought
up as a Roman Catholic member, but then changed started to worship at CMML
church. I became a Christian when I was 14 years old and got baptised at my
School in 2007. We were the first people to be baptised at Amano Christian
School. I finished my grade 12 in 2007, which was the IGCSE exam. I actually
managed to pass through the grace of God, through hard work, as we were the
first students at Amano to sit for exam.
While at Amano, I was involved in different activities like playing football, handball, volleyball, hockey, and rounders and also did swimming.
I
am Kennedy Mwamba, a student at Mechanics for Africa. I am Zambian born and both
parents are Zambian. I was born in 1985 on the 24th October in Kasama,
a town in the Northern Province of Zambia.
As a family we lived in the compound called Chiba in Kasama,
were I started school in 1991. I am the 6th in the family of seven. I
completed my primary level at Chilengwa Basic School and went to Masala High
School. I completed the senior level in 2004.
I head about Mechanics for Africa from a friend’s brother who happened to have been a student at the college. In the year 2006 I tried to apply but wasn’t successful. It was because of patience and faith that I tried in 2007, and I was picked this time. I’m currently in the first year and enjoying the mechanics lessons and other life skills being offered.
My
name is Kombo Muke; I was born in 1986 at Nchelenge Hospital in Luapula
Province. By nationality I’m a Zambian and Kaonde by tribe.
In my family we are six, four boys and two girls. My
parents died last year 2007; I’m looked after by my elder brothers, and fourth
in the family.
I am a Christian, congregating with Christian Mission in
Main Lands in Chifubu. At church am involved in a youth club.
I started primary school in 1994 in Lusaka at Chinika
Primary School, where I finished my grade seven. I was selected to go to grade
eight at the same school in 2002. After a year at Chinika I was transferred to
Kabuta Basic School in Nchelenge District in Luapula Province. I went to
Nchelenge high School to do my senior level and was selected to be a prefect. I
completed my senior level in 2006. While at school I was involved in different
fields of sporting like football, volleyball and table tennis.
In the year 2007 the results where out and I qualified with a school certificate. I got a job in the same year in Ndola town at Steel Joint Engineering Company. I worked on a six-month contract until I decided that needed to be trained. I attended the interviews at Mechanics for Africa and was selected as a first year student.
My
name is Matthew Mabvuto Phiri. I was born on the 18th August 1987. I
was born in Luanshya Hospital.
We are six in our family of
which there are three males and three females, I am the second last born. And
both my parents died when I was doing my grade 9 and currently am staying with
brothers and sisters. We all support each other but mainly the first and second
born are breadwinners.
I started my primary school
at Ndola Trust School and did my secondary education at Mpika High School in
Northern Province.
I go to Cathedral of Christ
the King and I belong to St Elizabeth Congregation. I came to know about
Mechanics for Africa College, through my elder brother Ospencio who studied at
this college. I was encouraged to come here because of high standard of teaching
and results the college has and from the achievement seen in my brother Ospencio
My hobbies are listening to
music, playing basketball, making friends and helping in repairing vehicles for
customers.
My
name is Maurice Nyumbu Silute. I was born in a family of nine but because of
death we are now six and I am the third born. We are three boys and three girls.
My father was a lozi and my mother a Ndebele from Zimbabwe. I was born in 1983
in Livingstone in the Southern Province of Zambia.
I started my grade one in 1993 at the age of ten at
Mulobezi Basic School in Western Province, where my father had a farm. I was at
the school for all my primary education. My mother died in 1995, by then I was
12 years. Later, sponsorship of education became had, until my elder brother
took me when he joined the Zambia Army as a Soldier. At the time he was under
going military training I was at the village, instead of being grade 8.
I go to church called Apostolic Church of Pentecost
(Zambia). I am the Sunday School Teacher, Youth Chairperson, Praise Director and
a chairperson for intercession. These are some of the activities that occupy me
in the church.
In the year 2003 my father died also in January and my brother took me to Ndola to further my education. I did my grade 8 at 1 Commando Education Centre and was selected to grade ten. My brother died in 2006 when I was doing grade eleven. In my grade twelve pupils from Sweden sponsored it. I’m currently staying alone since the death of my brother in 2006. I’m doing my first year at Mechanics for Africa.
My
name is Owens. K.Chimbini born on 31st October 1984.
I was born in a family of five children, three boys and two girls. Our
first-born was born in 1972 and died in 1993. Both my parents passed away after
the liquidation of Zambia Airways were he worked as a supervisor.
I did my grade one and two at Silverest Primary School and
after the airways was liquidated, we moved to Kafue were I did three and four
grades. We shifted to Ndola, and Mum died there, our Auntie and other relatives
started caring for us. I completed my high school at Lubuto High School.
Currently, I am a student at Mechanics for Africa doing
first year in mechanics. My future ambition is to own a Workshop after
successful completion of the course. I would love to live an independent life,
self-employed.
My hobbies are learning changes in African and Western cultures, art, enjoy motorcycle racing, visiting adventurous places.
My
name is Patrick Caesar Nyirenda, and I was born in 1982 on the 5th of
November in Lusaka the Capital of Zambia. I am the last born in the family of
six, being five boys and one girl. I live with both parents here in Ndola,
Copperbelt Province.
I did my primary grade at Lusaka Boys Basic School and was
selected to go to grade 8 at the same school. My father resigned from where he
worked in Lusaka and moved to Ndola. I had to continue my senior grade at Ndola
Modern High School. I later transferred again to Chifubu High School where I
completed my high school.
In my free time I like reading novels, my best writers are
Jeffery Archer, Minette Watters and John Grasham. I also like playing soccer,
volleyball and listening to music.
Currently, am at Mechanics for Africa doing my first year in automotive Mechanics. I give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for giving me the opportunity to be at one of the best colleges in Zambia. I got the information about this college from my friend. I got the form and applied and was invited for interviews. I was selected out of the over 90 applications.
My
full names are Musopelo Mulenga Peter. I am a single male Zambian; I was born on
7th August 1976. I completed my primary school in 1989 and further
completed my secondary education in 1999.
I am the first born from the family of six, of which the
last two are females. I have lived mostly, in Ndola city since I was born.
I am a Christian and received Christ Jesus as my personal
Saviour in 1992. Currently, am a worshipper and praise leader at a local church
called Lubuto Fire Baptist Church.
I like singing, dancing, reading, soccer, listening from
the music and videos.
Information about Mechanics for Africa reached through a friend. I was very happy to be selected after several attempts. As I have wanted to do this course all my life. I am doing my first year course in Motor Vehicle Engineering.
I
am male aged 27, born in the family of six; two have died elder brother and
sister. I am the last born in the family. My father died when I was four and mum
when I was a baby.
I
did my primary school at Matero Boys in Lusaka, where my Auntie took sponsorship
of me and later stopped in grade six. I took sponsorship of my education until I
reached in grade ten. I did my junior grade at Namando Basic in Lusaka and went
to Kansenshi High for my senior secondary.
I
worked for three months as a casual worker with the Zambia Telecommunication
Company. I am a born again Christian going to Abundant Blessings Christian
Centre of the Apostolic Church in Zambia. I am a singer in the church praise
team and I do interpretation during the main service.
I
came to know about Mechanics for Africa form my friend Davies Bweupe and Richard
Nyambe, who were students at that time. I got the application form and I was
invited to attend interviews. I thank God that I was got selected form the many
applicants who came. I am currently in the first year at Mechanics for Africa
Zambia.
My
hobbies are watching football and playing, reading travelling and playing
volleyball.
I
am 24 years old, and was born on the 20th December 1983 at Kitwe
Central Hospital in Copperbelt Province. We are three on our family and I am the
second born. I live with my mum, Dad passed away in 1990. I started school at
Jack & Jill, later entered primary at Sacred Heart Convent in Chingola. When
my parents were transferred to Kitwe, I continued school at St. John’s
Convent. I got selected to go to grade 8 at Kitwe Boys Secondary School and
completed my high school there.
Currently, I live with my
elder sister here in Ndola. A friend to my sister Naomi Musonda who was a
student at Mechanics for Africa told her about this college, it is how we got to
know about this college. I got the application form, attended the interviews and
was selected as a first year student. I thank God for such an opportunity to be
here.
My hobbies are swimming,
watching TV, music, dancing and playing basketball, as I am quite tall. I am a
Christian we gather at Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
I
am Timothy Kumwenda, I came from a family of 6 boys and three girls, altogether
we eight and I am the fourth born in our family. I was born on the 4th
of November 1985. Currently I am 22 years and I will be turning 23 on 4th
November this year.
My father died in the year 2000, my mother is still alive.
I stay with my Auntie, who took me after the death of my father. I did my
primary education at Ndola Main Primary from 1994 to 2001. I went to Chiwala
High School form 2002 to 2005 for secondary education. After finishing school I
was involved in a project by Emmanuel Press from South Africa, which aims at
empowering youth with the knowledge of God.
In the year 2006, a friend by the name of Tobias Ngoma told
me about Mechanics for Africa. I started preparing myself; in 2007 November I
applied and were selected for 2008 intake. Currently, I am in the first year
enjoying the course the Lecturers are excellent. I am able to see the course and
studies clearly now.
My hobbies are singing gospel, making friends and going to church.
